Occupational therapist in mental health

She/her

Virginie is an occupational therapist since 2011. Driven by a desire to contribute to a fairer world, Virginie puts her expertise to work for people who are marginalised by society or who are experiencing complex mental health issues.

With extensive clinical and intercultural experience, Virginie has developed her approach in psychiatry, community settings, and global health (Ottawa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Namibia, Chisasibi, Montreal). Her commitment to justice has led her to work on developing projects for refugees and asylum seekers, and to teach at the University of Montreal on the topics of discrimination and social injustice.

She is known for her kindness, deep empathy, and ability to empower others. Inclusion, non-judgement and respect are at the heart of her approach.

Virginie supports anyone with mental health issues that affect their ability to engage in important activities and connect with themselves and others. The goal is to rediscover meaning, pleasure and satisfaction in your work, studies, leisure activities, various commitments or even in your personal care.

Virginie can support you with:

  • Stress and anxiety management: Learn concrete, personalised strategies to get to know yourself better, reconnect with yourself and motivate yourself in a satisfying way.

  • Confidence and self-esteem: Engaging fully in meaningful activities by building confidence, self-esteem and assertiveness

  • Organisation and Priorization: Regain a sense of control by improving your concentration, attention span and ability to structure your daily life with flexible and stimulating routines.

  • Improving Relationships: Develop skills to create and maintain meaningful connections and satisfying relationships.

  • Rediscovering meaning and connecting: Connect with yourself, others and your environment, and reclaim your life and choices to restore balance and meaning to your daily life.

Virginie's approach aims to work with you to build the means to take your place in the world, at your own pace and without complexes. This involves:

  • Support to help you feel (more) comfortable with your mind and body, and in your environment.

  • Using your strengths to regain control of your daily life and feel empowered.

  • Support to ensure that your daily life reflects who you are or who you want to become.
