Sexologist
She/her, elle
Sophie Desjardins is a sexologist, a member of the OPSQ since 2024. Her approach is centred on a positive vision of sexuality. Intersectionality and issues of sexual diversity play an important role in her values and greatly influence her approach and her work. For her, the helping relationship largely consists of supporting her clients to reach a better understanding and acceptance of themselves and to develop their ability to find solutions that suit them.
The sex-related challenges she can help with include:
Transition
Feminist issues
Non-monogamy, for example for someone who is in a couple and would like to open-up to a non-monogamous relationship and needs help navigating related issues (such as fear, jealousy, ...)
Addiction to a sexual behavior or to pornography
Self-esteem
BDSM
Grief after loss of sexual behaviors or sexual partner (after an affirmation surgery for example)
Her approach is collaborative and tailored to each person’s needs, with a non-oppressive and affirmative perspective, relying of both theoretical and experiential knowledge of sexology and related subjects in the context of LGBTQAI2S+ realities.
